Together with Tommy Shannon and Chris Layton, Stevie Ray Vaughan founded and led the band Double Trouble which is known for their blue revivals during the 1980s. The band is known to have sold out concerts and albums that frequently earned gold records.

After signing with the Epic Records in March 1983, the band’s first album titled Texas Flood was finally released. The success of their first album led to the release of their next albums titled  Soul to Soul , Couldn't Stand the Weather, and In Step which earned them a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Blues Performance. However, after the band’s performance in East Troy, Wisconsin, Stevie Vaughan was reported to die due to a helicopter crash.

Vaughan is known for his unique, intense and eclectic style. In 2011, he was included in Rolling Stone's list of "100 Greatest Guitarists", landing him at rank 6. In 2000, Stevie Ray Vaughan was posthumously inducted into Blues Hall of Fame
