Brian Philip Welch is famous with the stage name Head. He is an American musician, singer, and songwriter who is best known as the co-founder and one of the guitarists the nu metal band Korn and his solo project Love and Death. Welche worked with fellow Korn guitarist James "Munky" Shaffer to develop Korn's distinctive sound. It is a mix of siren-like shards of dissonant guitar that mimics a turntablist's various effects and rumbling down-tuned riffing. It defined the nu metal aesthetic starting in the mid-'90s.
Welch left the band in 2005 after he became a born again Christian. He focused on his life as a father and pursued his solo career. In 2008, Welch released his debut Christian album Save Me from Myself. On May 5, 2012, he reunited with Korn on-stage at the Carolina Rebellion after seven years. A year after, Welch officially announced that he would rejoin the band. After that, he became No. 26 of the 100 Greatest Heavy Metal Guitarists of All Time by Guitar World.
Even if Welch rejoined Korn permanently in 2013, his active project would still be Love and Death. Last May 17, 2016, he released a new single "Lo Lamento. People can download it for free after purchasing the book, With My Eyes Wide Open: Miracles & Mistakes On My Way Back to KoRn.
