American actor Richard Stephen Dreyfuss was born on October 29th 1947 in Brooklyn, New York and has a net worth of $55 Million. He started his acting career when he attended Beverly Hills Jewish Center. At age 15, he made his debut in Mama’s House, a TV production. After school, he was actively involved in services during the Vietnam War for two years, doing clerical work in a hospital in Los Angeles.
However, he did act in various small TV productions during that period and in the late 1960’s done improvisational theater, repertory, and Broadway. Dreyfuss made his filming debut in The Graduate, with only one line, followed by a few more lines in 1967’s Valley of the Dolls. The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz in 1974 landed him his first lead role, with great reviews.
Two Steven Spielberg movies followed with Dreyfuss starring in both, and he moved on to become the youngest actor at that time to win the Best Actor Award at age 29. The award was for The Goodbye Girl in 1977. Although he had some bad experiences with cocaine for a period in his life, his career did not falter and he continued to work accumulating his net worth of $55 million.
