Regis Francis Xavier Philbin is an American actor, singer and media personality with a net worth of $20 million. Regis has made his fame and wealth by hosting his talk shows and game shows since 1960. Regis has a Guinness World Record for spending the maximum time in front of the television camera. He is known for his excited manner, New York Bronx accent, wit and irreverent ad-libs. He rose to fame with his show “Live! with Regis and Kelly”, which was formerly known as Live! with Regis and Kathie Lee. Regis has also been the host of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, Million Dollar Password and a season of America’s Got Talent.

Regis was born on 25th August 1931 in Bronx, New York. His father Francis was a U.S. Marine and mother was Filomena was of Arbereshe descent. He went to the Regis High School. Interestingly, he was actually named Regis because his dad wanted the son to go to this prestigious school. He also attended Our Lady of Solace grammar school and later went to the Cardinal Hayes High School. He finally graduated in 1953 from the University of Notre Dame with a degree in Sociology.

His professional career started off in 1964 when Steve Allen left a late night show. Regis was called in to host the “Westinghouse Tonight Show”. But luck didn’t favor him as it was eventually cancelled. Between 1975 and 1981, Regis hosted a morning talk show, “A.M. Los Angeles” on KABC-TV. Regis and his charming personality put the show from being at the bottom of the chart to its top. Later, he went to St. Louis to film “Regis Hilbin’s Saturday Night” in St. Louis for KMOX-TV.
