Nicholas James Bates popularly known by his stage name Nick Rhodes is an English musician and is the founder of pop rock band Duran Duran. Rhodes has a net worth of $60 Million.
He has earned it being the member of the pop rock band founded by him – Duran Duran. Rhodes also briefly worked with Arcadia, The Devils as well as Stephen Duffy. Nick was born on 8th June 1962. He was born into a well off family. His parents were the owners of Birmingham toy shop. At an early age of 16, he left school to form Duran Duran with his friends from his art school, Stephen Duffy and John Taylor.
They soon started playing at a local club called The Rum Runner. The club owner became the manager – Rhodes began working as a disc jockey at various clubs. Soon the band rose to fame – it was primarily because of Rhodes. Though he never had music training, but he was still able to produce great music. Rhodes most memorable songs include – Save a prayer, A view to a Kill, Come Undone, and Ordinary World. Rhodes knew that music videos were an important part and so, he used to put up an androgynous flamboyant look and wear heavy makeup. He also changed his hair colour frequently. Rhodes studied production. He produced the debut single of a band called Kajagoogoo which became UK’s #1.
Nick married Julie Ann Friedman in 1984. But they filed for divorce after a short interval of separation. The two have one daughter who was born in 1986. He became a patron of art and made friends with Andy Warhol. At the end of 1984, he published his own book of abstract art called “Interference”.
