Patricia has performed in a lot of movies and television shows over the years. Her first major role was in A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors. She was also seen in films such as Ed Wood, True Romance, Lost Highway, Flirting with Disaster, Holes, and Stigmata. Arquette played the lead the in the supernatural drama series Medium for which she won the Primetime Emmy Awards for the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series in 2005. She also received three Golden Globe nominations and two Emmy nominations. The show ended on January 21, 2011.

She started her career in 1987 in the television film Daddy. She then worked in Pretty Smart. In 1991, Patricia won a CableACE Award for her role as a deaf epileptic in Wildflower.

In 1995, she married Nicolas Cage. The couple split after just nine months, but they never revealed this split till February 2000, when Cage filed for divorce. The divorce petition was withdrawn, but Arquette filed it again in November 2000. She has a son, Enzo born on January 3, 1989 with the musician Paul Rossi. In 2002, she got engaged to Thomas Jane, and had a daughter Harlow Olivia Calliope with him. Arquette and Jane married on June 25th 2006 in Venice, Italy. In January 2009, she filed for divorce, but the couple soon got back together. However, in August 2010, she proceeded with the divorce.
