Musiq Soulchild was born on 16th September, 1977. His birth name is Taalib Johnson. He has a net worth of $9 million. He has earned his wealth as a singer and song writer and specializes in contemporary R&B, alternative, funk, soul, blues, jazz, gospel and hip hop.

Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Musiq is the oldest of nine children. As a child, he was inspired by Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder. At the age of 17, he dropped out of school, and he left home.

He got the name Musiq on the streets of Philadelphia, and later he added Soulchild to his name. He has been nominated by BET, BMI, Moard, Soul Train and ASCAP. He has so far released 2 platinum albums, 2 gold albums and 7 hit singles. Musiq has also received awards from NAACP, and the Billb MTV American Music Awards. He has had 11 Grammy nominations from which 3 were for his 2007 album “Luvanmusiq”. His debut album released in 2000 – it’s been quite a journey since then. His second album released in 2002, and it was #1 on the Billboard Charts. In 2003, Soulchild released his third album. He then took a 4 year break. Musiq switched over to Atlantic Records as well at this time. In 2007, his fourth album came out.

He has also worked in advertisements for Nike, Coca-Cola, McDonalds, and the Gap, Levi Strauss & Co. He made a special appearance on The CW’s No. 1 comedy show “The Game” as also on the UPN sitcom “All of Us”.
