Louis Armstrong was an American musician originating from New Orleans, Louisiana. This jazz singer is known for his scat singing. He is also recognized for his inventive cornet and trumpet playing. He is also known for his other nicknames such as Ambassador Satch, Pops, Satch, Satchmo and Dipper.

Louis Armstrong was born on August 4, 1901 in New Orleans, Louisiana, U.S. He died on July 6, 1971 in Corona, Queens, New York City, U.S. After three unsuccessful marriages, Armstrong married Lucille Wilson in 1942. The couple remained together until Armstrong's death in 1971.

His performance on Hello, Dolly! won him a Grammy Award for Best Male Vocal Performance in 1964. Furthermore, he has 11 recordings which were inducted into Grammy Hall of Fame. These songs have either "qualitative or historical significance" or at least 25 years old.
