Rock musician Duff McKagan has an estimated net worth of $20 million. He grew up in Seattle where he was taught to play bass guitar by his brother Bruce, and after dropping out of high school, he played in several Seattle bands before moving to Los Angeles where he earned a living waiting tables. He met future Guns N' Roses band mates Slash and Steven Adler after answering a newspaper advert and all three of them joined singer Axl Rose in Guns N' Roses a short while later. After a roller coaster ride through highs and lows fueled by drink and drugs, he finally left the band in 1997.

After nearly dying from acute pancreatitis, McKagan stayed sober and has since played in the bands Velvet Revolver, Jane's Addiction, as well as his own group, Loaded. After going to the University in Seattle, he now runs a wealth management company, Meridian Rock, which helps other rock musicians look after their financial investments. He has also written a regular column on the economy for Playboy magazine, fittingly titled Duffonomics. He continues to play and record music and has also had a couple of minor acting roles including playing a vampire rocker in an episode of the TV show Sliders.
