Coldplay is a British alternative rock band that has an estimated net worth of $475 million. The group is made up of vocalist Chris Martin, guitarist Johnny Buckland, bassist Guy Berryman, and drummer Will Champion.
Coldplay was founded by lead vocalist Chris Martin and lead guitarist Jonny Buckland at the University College London in 1996. The band name changed twice, Pectoralz and Starfish, before becoming Coldplay. It released two extended plays - Safety in 1998 and The Blue Room in 1999.
The band achieved its worldwide fame when it released the song "Yellow" in 2000. It was followed by the release of their debut album Parachutes, which earned a Mercury Prize nomination. Two years later, it released its second album A Rush of Blood to the Head and it received critical acclaims and awards, such as the NME's Album of the Year. Its single "Clocks" won the Grammy Award for best record of 2003.
In 2005, the group released their third album X&Y, which turned out to be the best-selling album worldwide. Its fourth studio album Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends was released in 2008 and became the best-selling album worldwide as it earned three Grammy Awards. Mylo Xyloto was their fifth studio studio album. It was released in 2011, which topped the charts in over 34 countries and became UK's best-selling rock album for that year. It released its sixth studio album Ghost Stories in 2014 and seventh studio album A Head Full of Dreams in 2015. Both received positive reviews and topped in several markets.
