Ayumi Hamasaki is a Japanese recording artist, model, and actress who has an estimated net worth of $70 million.

Ayumi Hamasaki started modeling at age of seven, in order to help her family. Seven years later, she moved to Tokyo and joined the SOS talent agency. Her career as a model was put on halt when she was transferred to Sun Music. She released her first rap EP called Nothing from Nothing in 1995, but failed to make it to the chart.

She took up acting, appeared in several B-movies and television dramas but decided to quit. Hamasaki spent her time dancing at Velfarre and met Avex Trax producer, Max Matsuura. Upon hearing her singing in a karaoke, he decided to sent her to study singing in New York.

Hamasaki debuted for Avex in 1998 with her first single, Poker Face. She successfully released numerous hits such as Love (Destiny), Boys & Girls, Never Ever, Voyage, and Moon, among others. She was recognized by several award-giving bodies around Asia such as Oricon Chart Awards, MTV Japan Video Music Awards, The Japan Record Awards, and Musicnet Awards.
