British-born Bromilow, who lives in Thailand, invested in Adidas, the sportswear giant when it was a beleaguered, loss-making company.
He helped turn it around, cashing in most of his shares when Adidas floated on the Frankfurt stock exchange in 1995 and selling another tranche two years later, earning about £600m before tax. In 2001, he made £150m from the sale of his medical publishing business, Medimedia. David Bromilow has an estimated net worth of $975 million.
