Robert L. Johnson is the founder of Black Entertainment Television. He is an American businessman who is better known as Bob Johnson. He was born on 8th April 1946 in Hickory, Mississippi, US. He has made his wealth by founding the television network called “Black Entertainment Television” (BET) and as a former co-owner of NBA Franchise as well. In January 1980, Black Entertainment Television started it broadcasting. It was only for two hours a week initially. But soon enough, it started growing. Bob Johnson has started RLJ Companies after selling the BET. This is called “Second Act” by him. He also became famous by the title “First African-American Billionaire” in the year 2001. He was the first black person to be included in the “Forbes World’s Rich List”. In the Major League Sports Franchise of North America, he is the first Black American as well. A Los Angeles based movie company called “Our Stories Films” has been founded by Johnson in the year 2006.

Bob graduated in 1968 from the “University of Illinois”. At that time he was the part of “Kappa Alpha Psi” fraternity. He post graduated from the Princeton University. He got married to Sheila Johnson in 1969. The couple has one daughter named Paige Johnson and a son named Brett Johnson. His marriage lasted for thirty three years from 1969 to 2009.
