Martin Clunes is an English actor and comedian.

Clunes started his career when he landed roles on Doctor Who and with BBC's No Place Like Home.

Clunes landed the role of Gary on the sitcom Men Behaving Badly, for which he won a BAFTA television award in 1996.

In 1998, he played the role of Richard Burbage in the Oscar-winning film Shakespeare in Love. He played Captain Stickles in 2001 for the BBC adaptation of R. D. Blackmore's Lorna Doone.

Clunes is one of the leads in the ITV romantic comedy-drama William and Mary. In 2004, he played the role of Doctor Martin Ellingham on the ITV comedy drama series Doc Martin.

In 2011, Clunes voice was featured in the short film Me or the Dog. In 2012, he presented a documentary series on ITV about the lemurs of Madagascar.

Alexander Martin Clunes was born on November 28, 1961 in Wimbledon, South West London, England. He studied at the Royal Russell School in Croydon and The Arts Educational Schools, in Chiswick, London. He is married to television producer Philippa Braithwaite, and the couple has a daughter.
