Born in Brooklyn, New York in 1956, Marc Steven Bell, popular as Marky Ramone, is a songwriter, DJ, and musician. His genres are heavy metal, punk rock, and hard rock. Ramone first joined the hard-rock band, Dust. However, he soon changed to Wayne County, and then to The Backstreet Boys. His fame was spreading fast, and with it, money was flowing too. In 1978, he joined the Ramones when he replaced Tommy Ramone, their original drummer. He was given a new name – Marky. However, Marky had to leave soon because of his drinking problem. But he was asked to join the band after just a year. He kept playing for them till 1996 when the band broke up.
In the role of Executive Producer, Marky has produced a DVD titled “Ramones Raw”. Reportedly, he is coming out with another DVD soon. It is going to be titled, “The Job That Ate My Brain – the Marky Ramone Story”. Marky Ramone’s wealth comes from a clothing line too that he launched with Tommy Hilfiger. This line sells t-shirts, jeans and leather jackets. He has his own pasta sauces as well – “Marky Ramone's Brooklyn's Own Pasta Sauce”.
In a long career, Marky has been awarded on numerous occasions. He has received a lifetime achievement award from Grammy and from MTV. He has made guest appearances in the Simpsons.
