Brooks earned his net worth from their hit songs and his ability as a song writer. He is also a host at the American Country Countdown Radio Show.

Born Leon Eric Brooks, III on May 12, 1955 in Shreveport, Louisiana, he began performing and writing songs at the age of twelve in his hometown of Shreveport, Louisiana. Before he joined Brooks and Dunn, he was a singer and a song writer. Brooks' first solo song, Baby, When Your Heart Breaks Down, was released in 1983, and was a huge failure. After that, Brooks focused only on songwriting until the release of his album, Kix Brooks in 1989, which became a super hit.

Brooks and Ronnie Dunn teamed up together, which led to the foundation of Brooks and Dunn, amongst the most popular singers in the history of Country music. In August 2009, the singer duo made an announcement of their retirement after their 20 years of the Brooks and Dunn 's hit performances. In 2019, the duo ere selected for the Country Music Hall of Fame with their induction to happen in the fall.
