Antin studied at the Fairfax Beauty Academy and eventually worked at a salon found in West Hollywood's Beverly Center. He was only 23 years old when he opened a salon. In the year 1999, people considered him as one of the top stylists of Hollywood as he created hairstyle changes that allowed his clients to suit their parts such as hairstyles from various periods. Some of his clients are Tobey Maguire, Ricky Martin. K.D. Lang, Steven Tyler, Tiger Woods, and Madonna. He was able to create the hair care line called Jonathan Product that eventually broke a record at QVC in the year 2005 as the most successful hair care launch because it sold 35 thousand units within just one hour. Since the line was also sold in retail stores, it eventually became a multi-million dollar business. He then sold shares of his company in the year 2010.

After the success of Jonathan West Hollywood, he was able to open the Jonathan Salon Beverly Hills. However, he sold both of these salons and eventually got engaged in high-priced house calls with his clients. He eventually returned to Beverly Hills and put up the Jonathan Antin Salon and became the spokesman of the salon business software company MINDBODY Salon. Here, he is the host of hair-advice Q&As on Twitter every month.

Television

Antin eventually became the star of the reality series called Blow Out that follows his life. The scene takes place in Jonathan Salon Beverly Hills that is staffed by around twelve assistants and stylists. However, the press did not receive the show very well because of his narcissism as well as his speech patterns, hairdo, and management style.

Antin became the judge of the third season of the reality television series Shear Genius in 2010 and became a part of the cast of L.A. Hair in 2015. In 2004, he appeared in television commercials for American Express, Bravo's makeover show called Queer Eye for the Straight Guy as well as in The Biggest Loser's tenth season as he gave makeovers to the final six contestants of the show. He was also able to appear on The Millionaire Matchmaker in the year 2015. In the year 2007, he became the judge of the Miss USA Pageant.
