Johnny Rzeznik is an American musician, singer, songwriter and producer who has an estimated net worth of $14 million. He was born John Joseph Theodore Rzeznik on December 5, 1965 in Buffalo, New York to parents who were both musicians - playing the clarinet and flute. While attending McKinley Vocational High School, he started playing the guitar. He then attended Buffalo State College but dropped out after his first year.
Growing up, he was influenced by his sisters and they listened to classic rock such as The Rolling Stones and The Kinks. He also became interested in Ramones and The Clash. His gift for melody was attributed to Kiss, Cheap Trick, The Cure and Rush.He also cites Paul Westerberg as an "obvious influence" on his music.
Rzeznik is best known as the guitarist and frontman of the rock band the Goo Goo Dolls, which he co-founded with bassist/vocalist Robby Takac in 1985 and drummer George Tutuska. Mike Malinin was the band's drummer from December 1994 until December 27, 2013, but he was not made an official member until 1998.
Currently, only he and Takac are the remaining band members. Johnny Rzeznik has recorded a total of eleven albums with the group. Their 1998 single Iris became a commercial success. Other popular singles include Name and Naked from their album A Boy Named Goo (1995); Slide, Black Balloon, Dizzy and Broadway from Dizzy Up the Girl (1998); Here Is Gone from Gutterflower (2002); and Better Days, Give a Little Bit and Stay with You from Let Love In (2006).
