John Edward Melendez, popularly known as "Stuttering John" because of his speech impediment, is a famous TV personality and a former radio host. He has a net worth of $1.5 million which he has earned primarily from being a television writer and a radio host.

He was a regular on The Howard Stern Show. Melendez became famous due to the pointed questions he asked celebrities. Melendez is originally from Long Island. His stutter started when he was in second grade. The reason has been attributed to the psychological mistreatment meted out by his father. Melendez, like his father, also suffers from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.

Melendez attended New York University’s Film School in 1988. He was also a member of an indie rock band “Rock Slide”. Melendez got the job at The Howard Stern Show merely because of his stutter. He was not even interviewed. On the show, his primary job was to answer callers and to list them before they could be allowed online. His interviews were mostly full of puns.

By the early 1990s he started receiving national exposure. By 1994 The Howard Stern Show started airing on television, and Melendez's fame was almost immediate. After working for 15 years for the Stern Show, he began working on Broadway productions. “Tony n Tina’s Wedding” was his first ever off-Broadway show. This is where he met his future wife, Suzanna. Melendez soon started appearing in movies such as Airheads; Meet Wally Sparks; Dude, Where’s My Car?; Osmosis Jones and Private Parts, a Howard Stern movie. Melendez also appeared in television episodes of Wings; Baywatch Nights and the U.S. version of I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here.
