Jack LaLanne was the first fitness expert from the USA. It has been estimated that his net worth currently stands at a cool $15 Million. He started the first fitness club or gymnasium, in Oakland in California. He supervised weight training and designed weight loss equipment by himself. In fact, he has inspired an entire generation of people who are now into fitness training through his work. He had lived to be 96, before passing away in 2011, due to respiratory problems that he had developed because of pneumonia.

Jack started his own gymnasium open to public use in 1936. He supervised its activities and also designed machines for leg extension and weight training using the pulley system. LaLanne has presented fitness shows on television for close to 34 years. He has always propagated the view that physical culture and nutrition was the key to salvation for the US. In 2007, he was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award in Venice Beach, California. The award was given to him by The President’s Council. He also released a book entitled “Live Young Forever” on his 95th Birthday. Jack has made his millions through his fitness chain “BeFit Enterprises” and other efforts.

Born with the name Francois LaLanne in 1914 to parents Jennie and Jean, he was addicted to junk food till the age of 15. However, after listening to a speech by the motivational speaker Paul Braggs, he took up the way of fitness. He has 3 children with his wife Elaine, to whom he was married for more than 50 years. One of his sons is a chiropractor in California while the other two are involved with the running of the family’s enterprises.
