Born in Houston, Texas, USA on June 12, 1990, he graduated from Clements High School in 2008, and attended the University of California in Davis, where he majored in film before dropping out.

Wu’s entertainment career began when he began posting humorous videos on YouTube. His "I Have to Deal With Stereotypes" video was featured on the site’s homepage, and led to an increased number of viewers and followers. He is known by the username KevJumba, and has collaborated with fellow YouTube comedian Christine Gambito (aka HappySlip), with whom he has made five videos.

As of October 2013, Kevin’s channel has more than 3 million subscribers and more than 25 million views, overall the 93rd most subscribed on YouTube. In the summer of 2010, the web series Funemployed was launched. It stars Wu and Philip Wong of Wong Fu Productions. It also includes several YouTube stars such as Nigahiga, David Choi, Kina Grannis and Chester Se.
