He was born as Donald McNichol Sutherland, in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada in 1935. He has an actor son named Kiefer Sutherland, from Shirley Douglas, his second wife and three more sons with his present wife, Francine Racette, a French-Canadian actress. He has received the prestigious office of the Order of Canada and was also given the Canada's Walk of Fame recognition.
