About Troy Duffy
Troy Duffy is an American director, producer, musician and screenwriter.
Duffy got his start when he moved to Los Angeles, pursuing a music career with his band, The Brood.
While working in a bar, he wrote the script for The Boondock Saints. He marketed the film to Miramax Films’ Harvey Weinstein, but the project was ultimately dropped.
After the project was rejected by Miramax Films and New Line Cinema, Duffy approached agents at the William Morris Agency to help him market it to other studios. Eventually, Franchise Pictures agreed to finance the project.
Duffy’s story was featured in the documentary Off The Boulevard by filmmaker Jeff Santo. He also made a sequel, The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day, in 2009.
In his musical aspiration, his band consisted of Duffy’s brother Taylor, Gordon “Gordo” Clark, and Jimi Jackson. They performed frequently in several North Hollywood taverns.
The band inked a recording deal to Maverick Records with a subsidiary of Atlantic Records. They released their first album, Release the Hounds.
Troy Duffy was born on June 8, 1971 in Hartford, Connecticut, USA. He is married to Angela Green.
