John Landis is an American screenwriter, actor, producer, and film director who became more famous when he worked with Michael Jackson on the latter's music videos. Before he became a successful director like he is today, he worked as a mail-boy, stunt double, dialogue coach, actor, and production assistant.
He directed the "National Lampoon's Animal House" under the Universal Studios which paved him more opportunities in the entertainment industry. He co-wrote and directed one of the most expensive films made during that time, The Blues Brothers. It cost around $30 million. It was believed that he had a rivalry with Steven Spielberg who at that time directed the film 1941, which cost $35 million. Nevertheless, the rivalry was claimed to be a friendly one as Landis made a cameo appearance as a messenger in Spielberg's 1941 and the latter played the role of a desk clerk in Landis' Blues Brothers. John Landis is also known for his magnificent works in several horror and comedy movies.
