Greg Daniels is a television writer, director and producer. He is best known for developing The Office for NBC, as well as for working on Saturday Night Live, The Simpsons, and King of the Hill. These shows were named among Time’s All-Time 100 Best TV Shows.

Gregory Martin Daniels was born on June 13, 1963 in West Hollywood, California, USA. He attended the Philip Exeter Academy and later Harvard University where he wrote for the Harvard Lampoon with Conan O’Brien, who also became his friend.  When they met Lorne Michaels in late 1987, they had a three-week try-out on the writing staff of Saturday Night Live. This led to Daniels earning an Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Variety, Music or Comedy Program. He left the group in 1990.

Daniels became part of the writing staff of The Simpsons during its fifth season. He wrote several episodes, including Lisa’s Wedding, Bart Sells His Soul and 22 Short Films About Springfield. He left the series and co-created King of the Hill with Mike Judge..

Greg Daniels has also worked on several other series including The Office and Parks and Recreation where he had an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Comedy Series for both shows. He won a writing category award in 2007 for Gray Witch Hunt and in 2010, he was nominated along with Mindy Kaling for The Office episode Niagara, and received another nomination for Goodbye Michael, Steve Carell’s last episode.
