Alexander Payne is an American film director, and screenwriter which has an estimated net worth of $6 million.

Alexander Payne wrote and directed his first film, Citizen Ruth in 1996. Meanwhile, his film Election, which starred Matthew Broderick and Reese Witherspoon, caught the attention of New Yorker film critic David Denby, who named it the best film of 1999.

He was nominated for an Academy Award for Writing Adapted Screenplay for the film, Election.

In 2003, Payne received a Golden Globe for his screenplay for About Schmidt, and also nominated for a Writers Guild of America Award for Best Adapted Screenplay.

In 2005, he won both the Academy Award and Golden Globe  for Best Screenplay for the film Sideways. The film also won the Golden Globe Award for Award for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy category.

After a seven year hiatus from film direction, Payne directed The Descendants, which won the Oscar for adapted screenplay in 2011.

Constantine Alexander Payne was born on February 10, 1961 in Omaha, Nebraska, USA. He studied at Stanford University, and graduated double majored in Spanish and History. Payne got his MFA in 1990 from the UCLA Film School. He was married to Korean-Canadian actress Sandra Oh, and until they divorced in 2006.
