He is a Korean-American, who is best known for various recurring roles in fantasy and science fiction genre. However, he became popular owing to his roles in Hawaii Five-0 and Lost. Kim was born in August 1968 in South Korea (Pusan). His family moved to the US when he was 2 years old. He graduated from Haverford College. He wanted to be a lawyer but, after playing in a two-character play in college, he turned to acting. Kim completed his theater major from Bryn Mawr College and successfully underwent Graduate Acting-Program at NYU. As an actor, he appeared in sixteen films and forty eight television series, which contributed to his wealth.
In 2005, Kim was named as one of the “Sexiest Men Alive” by People Magazine. In the year 2006, he won Screen Actors Guild Award for his role in the top-rated series Lost.
