Wanda Sykes is an actress, comedian, voice artist and writer from the US. Born in Portsmouth, Virginia, she is according to the Entertainment Weekly, among the “25 funniest people in America”. That’s certainly a huge achievement by any standards. She won the Emmy award in 1999 for her writings on The Chris Rock Show. Wanda’s current net worth according to estimates stands at an impressive $6 million.
Wanda has earned her wealth and fame by her performances on television and films, and also as a standup comedian. She has worked as a voice artist too, and this has also added to her wealth.
Some of the movies where she has performed include Nutty Professor II: The Klumps, Over the Hedge, Monster-in-Law, and Evan Almighty. Of course, Wanda is best known for her television performances. She has her own show on Fox as well – The Wanda Sykes Show. It started airing in November 2009. However, the show was canceled after just a few months. Sykes is a writer too. She wrote a book on different funny observations titled, “Yeah, I Said It”. It was published in September 2004. Wanda married Dave Hall in 1991. But the couple divorced in 1998. In 2008, Wanda disclosed that she was gay when she appeared in a same-sex marriage rally. Wanda married Alex Sykes in 2008.
