Marc Maron is an American stand-up comedian, and radio and podcast host born on September 27, 1963 in Jersey City, NJ to a Jewish family. He lived in Wayne, NJ and Pompton Lakes, NJ until he was six. His father joined the US Air Force for two years and the family lived in Alaska. When his father left the service, the family moved to Albuquerque, NM. He studied Acting with Michael Howard in New York. He graduated from the Boston University with a degree in English.

Maron has been writing and performing raw, honest and thought-provoking comedy for print, radio and television for over fifteen years. He started his comedy career in The Comedy Store in Los Angeles and became an associate of his friend Sam Kinison. He is a legend in the stand-up community. He has appeared in HBO, Conan, Letterman, two Comedy Central Presents specials and in almost every show that allows comics to perform. He wrote a book based on his solo show The Jerusalem Syndrome: My Life as a Reluctant Messiah. It is now out of print and is an overpriced item by vendors thinking that it might have some collector’s value. He had three CDs: Not Sold Out, Tickets Still Available and Final Engagement which are all comedy cult classics.

Marc Maron has been married twice – Kimberly Reiss and Mishna Wolff who is a former stand-up comedian. He has numerous appearances at the Edinburgh Fringe festival in 2007. He headlined an episode of John Oliver’s NY Stand-Up Show this year. He was ranked #7 in Comedy Central’s annual Stand-Up Showdown. His podcast WTF with Marc Maron has skyrocket to #1 on the iTunes comedy charts. It was ranked #3 Best Podcast of 2009 by iTunes Rewind. He has also premiered in Scorching the Earth, a one-man show based in his two divorces and anger problem.
