Born George Denis Patrick Carlin, George Carlin is a satirist, social critic, writer, author, actor and stand-up comedian who enjoyed a very successful career before his death in 2008.

Noted for his black humors on diverse issues on some taboo subjects as well as religion, psychology, politics and the English language, George Carlin was the second on the list of Comedy Central’s 100 greatest stand-up comedians of all time.

Throughout his entire acting career, Carlin has received a 5 Grammy Awards, which include Best Comedy recording for his It’s Bad For You (2009) and FM & AM (1972), and 3 Best Spoken Comedy Album Awards for Jammin' in New York (1993), Brain Droppings (2001) and Napalm & Silly Putty (2002). He is also a recipient of two American Comedy awards for the Funniest Male Performer in a TV Special category on his George Carlin: Back in Town (1997) and George Carlin: 40 Years of Comedy (1998).

At age 71, George Carlin died on June 22, 2008 in Santa Monica California.
