His boat, Cornelia Marie was first featured on television during the opilio crab portion of Season 1 as a partner ship of F/V Maverick. The boat was heavily involved in the search for Big Valley, a sunken vessel. Captain Phil Harris suffered a massive stroke on January 29, 2010 and was flown to Anchorage for treatment. Initially he showed signs of improvement but his condition worsened and he died from intra-cranial hemorrhage on February 9th, 2010.
