Reynolds, his sister and his mother later reunited with the father at Fort Leonard Wood and they stayed at Fort Leonard Wood for two years. He later moved to Florida where he lived at Riviera Beach.

He studied at Palm Beach high School where he was named in All Southern and First Team All state as a fullback. This made him receive several scholarship offers.
