English novelist, Sir Terence David John "Terry" Pratchett, has an estimated net worth of $65 million. He has sold over 65 million books in 37 languages and was knighted in 2009 for his contributions to literature. He went into journalism as a reporter for the Bucks Free Press in 1965 at the age of 17. His first novel was published in 1971 and he followed it up with two more in 1976 and 1981. He was working as a press officer with the Central Electricity Generating Board when his first Discworld novel, The Colour of Magic, was published in 1983. After his fourth Discworld novel was published in 1987, he quit the CEGB to become a full-time writer. The best-selling author was diagnosed with a rare form of early-onset dementia in 2007 and is a patron of the Alzheimer’s Research Trust. In March 2008, Pratchett announced he was donating £500,000 to the Alzheimer’s Research Trust.
