Jon Krakauer who was born on April 12th, 1954 is an American mountaineer and writer whose net worth is $35 million. He has made most of his net worth writing about the great outdoors especially the non-fiction works he does like Into the Wild, The Odyssey of Pat Tillman-as, Where Men Win Glory: Under the Banner of Heaven, Into Thin Air and numerous magazine articles. Jon grew up in Corvallis, Oregon where he started mountaineering at age eight but he was Brookline born.
After completing high school in the year 1972, he went to Hampshire College located in Massachusetts where he graduated with an Environmental Studies degree in 1976. In 1977, he was alone for three weeks alone in the Stikine Icecap wilderness region of Alaska and he described the experience in two of his books. In 1992, he went to Cerro Torre situated in the Andes which is considered to be one of the most difficult climbs in the world but his most famous climb was his ascent on Mount Everest where four of his colleagues died making the descent.
