Daisy Ridley is a British actress who starred in Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens. She will also be in Star Wars: Episode VIII The Last Jedi as the character Rey. The producers first announced her involvement on April 29, 2014. She was also the voice of her character in the video games LEGO Star Wars and Disney Infinity 3.0. Her character in the television series, Star Wars: Forces of Destiny also has her voice.
Before Episode VII casting, Ridley was relatively unknown. She only made small appearances in British television shows like Mr. Selfridge, Toast of London, Silent Witness, Youngers, and Casualty. Ridley also appeared in two short films, Blue Season and Lifesaver. Her credits include an appearance in the rapper Wiley's music video for the song "Lights On." Aside from Episode VII, her first film debut was Scrawl.
Last August 7, 2014, they reported that Ridley would reprise her role as Rey in Star Wars' Episodes VIII to IX. Ridley was the winner of the Best Breakthrough Performance as Rey at the MTV Movie Awards last 2016.
According to the Star Wars composer John Williams, the enchanting performance of Ridley as Rey was the factor for his decision to return for Episode VIII. He does not want another composer to score her scenes.
