About Courteney Cox
Courteney Cox has an estimated net worth of $75 Million. The former Friends star reprised her role as tabloid reporter Gayle Weathers this spring (2011) in Scream 4. But it’s her prime-time gig as star and executive producer of ABC’s Cougar Town that brings Cox the most attention — and dollars — with an estimated $275,000 per episode. In late 2010 Cox split from husband of eleven years, Scream costar David Arquette.
Born on June 15, 1964, Courteney Cox grew up with three older siblings in Mountain Brook, an affluent Alabama town. Though Cox participated in multiple extracurricular activities during her high school years, she did not exercise her taste for acting until she dropped out of the architecture program at Mount Vernon College. Landing a contract with the prestigious Ford Modeling Agency led Cox to several commercial appearances. Her first official role arrived in 1984, when she was cast as a young debutante in one episode of the long-running soap opera As the World Turns.
She appeared on the covers of teen magazines such as Tiger Beat and Little Miss, plus numerous romance novels. She then moved on to commercials for Maybeline, Noxema, New York Telephone Company and Tampax.
She was cast by Brian De Palma in the infamous Bruce Springsteen video “Dancing in The Dark”. In 1985, she moved to LA to star alongside Dean Paul Martin in “Misfits of Science” (1985). It was a flop, but a few years later, she was chosen out of thousands of hopefuls to play Michael J. Fox’s girlfriend, psychology major Lauren Miller in “Family Ties” (1982).
She starred alongside Jim Carrey in the unexpected hit Ace Ventura: Pet Detective (1994), and a year later she was cast as Monica Geller on the hugely successful sitcom “Friends” (1994). It was this part that turned her into an international superstar and led to an American Comedy Award nomination.
