Charo is a Spanish-US actress, flamenco guitarist and a comedienne. Her net worth has been estimated to be about $8 Million. There has been a lot of confusion about the year of her birth. Some say it’s 1931. She claimed it to be 1941. However it was later revealed that it was she who persuaded a US court to declare that 1951 was her official birth year.
She got married at an extremely young age to a 66-year old band leader. However after her divorce with Cugat, she became a US citizen.
Charo was born in Spain, her father was a lawyer and her mom was a home maker who looked after her children. She took guitar lessons from the age of nine, and she is also considered to be one of the best flamenco guitarists according to a poll result conducted by the guitar player magazine readers.
She has earned her wealth from her own unique style and marvelous comic timing. Charo developed the phrase “cuchi cuchi”. In the mid 1960s, she made her first appearance in a TV show named “The Today Show”. Towards the end of this show, she would appear in small chat sessions with Dick Martin and Dan Rowan. Her lack of fluency in the English language worked like a comic. The co-hosts often pulled her leg on this front.
After getting divorced with Cugat, she married her second husband in 1978. The couple has a son, who is now a drummer for the metal band Treazen. For much of 1980s and 1990s, Charo had limited her visibility as she and her husband was busy bringing up their only son.
