Angelina Jolie On Red Carpet

Jolie was born Angelina Jolie Voight in Los Angeles, California, on June 4, 1975. From an early age, Jolie learned to act from her actor parents, Marcheline Bertrand and Jon Voight, an Oscar-winner. At age 11, she began studying at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute. Five years after that, Jolie failed at pursuing a modeling career but started to appear in music videos.

She made her film debut as a child alongside her father in Lookin' to Get Out (1982). Jolie's acting career began eleven years later with the low-budget production Cyborg 2 (1993). Her critical consideration increased when she performed in George Wallace (1997), for which obtained a Golden Globe Award and an Emmy nomination. Jolie's acclaim grew further with the lead role in Gia (1998), which led her to win another Golden Globe and receive another Emmy nomination.

In 1999, Jolie had a main role in The Bone Collector alongside Denzel Washington and featured in Girl, Interrupted with Winona Ryder. In 2001, Jolie started in the video game-based film Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001), for which was paid $7 million. That movie made her an international star.

One of the Lara Croft movie's filming locations was Cambodia. While there, Jolie witnessed the poverty of the country. It was a revelatory experience that led to the humanitarian side of her life. She started visiting refugee camps and eventually became a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).

The sequel Lara Croft: Tomb Raider – The Cradle of Life was released in 2003, and Jolie earned $12 million for her work. In 2004, she began filming Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005) with co-star Brad Pitt and received $10 million for her performance. There were rumors that Pitt and Jolie had an affair while filming. He then separated from his then-wife, Jennifer Aniston, and was repeatedly seen in public with Jolie.

Jolie earned $14 million in 2007 and was the tenth world’s best-paid actress in 2008 with $14 million. Besides that, in 2007, she made her directorial debut with the documentary A Place in Time, which captures life in 27 locations around the planet.

She was the sixth best-paid actress in the world with earnings of $20 million in 2010, the fourth with profits for $20 million in 2012, the fifth with earnings for $18 million in 2014, the seventh with profits for $15 million in 2015, and the second with earnings for $28 million in 2018.

Jolie was married to Jonny Lee Miller, her co-star in Hackers, from 1996 to 1999. In 2000, she married her Pushing Tin (1999) partner Billy Bob Thornton, but they divorced in 2002. In that year, Jolie adopted a Cambodian refugee boy named Maddox, and in 2005, adopted an Ethiopian refugee girl called Zahara. She started a relationship with Brad Pitt in 2005, and her daughter Shiloh was born in 2006. The following year, the couple adopted a three-year-old Pakistanian boy named Pax Thien. In 2008, she gave birth to the twins Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline. Jolie and Pitt married in 2012 and filed for divorce in 2016.
