Once labelled the "teen sensation", River Phoenix was an American musician, activist, and film actor noted for his appearances in numerous film and TV shows.
Rive Jude Phoenix was born on August 23, 1970 in Madras, Oregon, USA. He is the older brother of Liberty, Summer, Joaquin and Rain Phoenix. At age 23, Phoenix died of cocaine and heroine-induced heart failure while he was outside of The Viper Room, a night club in West Hollywood. He died on October 31, 1993.
Throughout his career as an actor, Phoenix has appeared on 24 film and TV projects which include Stand By Me, Explorers, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, and My Own Private Idaho. His appearance in Running on Empty in 1988 earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor.
