Shivaji Rao Gaikwad was born on December 12, 1950 in Bangalore, Mysore State, India. Since 1981, he has been married to Latha Rangachari, with whom he has two children, Aishwarya R. Dhanush and Soundarya R. Ashwin. In 2010, he was listed as the most influential Indian of the year by Forbes India.
