American actor Peter Boyle was born Peter Lawrence Boyle on October 18, 1953 in Norristown, Pennsylvania. He has an estimated net worth of $8 milliom. He attended St. Francis de Sales School and West Philadelphia Catholic High School For Boys. He earned a BA from La Salle University in Philadelphia in 1957. He was commissioned as an ensign in the United States Navy after he graduated from Officer Candidate School in 1959. However, his military career was cut short due to nervous breakdown.
While working as a postal clerk and maitre d’ in New York, Boyle studied with acting coach Uta Hagen. He toured with Neil Simon’s The Odd Couple and later joined The Second City improve comedy ensemble in Chicago.
Boyle was best known for his role as Frank Barone on the sitcom Everybody Loves Raymond with Ray Romano and Doris Roberts where he received a Screen Actors Guild Award and an Emmy nomination, and as a comical monster in Mel Brooks’ film spoof Young Frankenstein. In 1996, he won an Emmy Award for a guest-starring role on the science fiction drama The X-Files. He won praises for both comedic and dramatic parts following his breakthrough performance in the 1970 film Joe.
Among Boyle’s other works included The French Connection, The Friends of Eddie Coyle, Tail Gunner Joe, Taxi Driver, Where the Buffalo Roam, Outland, Yellowbeard, The Dream Team, Solar Crisis, The Shadow, While You Were Sleeping, Dr. Dolittle, Monster’s Ball, The Cat Returns, Scooby Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed, Malcolm X, Porky’s Revenge, Death and the Compass and La Muerte y la Brujula. Peter Boyle had suffered from several heart attacks and near-fatal stroke. He died of multiple myeloma and heart disease on December 12, 2006 at the New York Presbyterian Hospital.
