He went to Los Angeles where he got a role in the comedy movie Doctor Benny. Josh later starred in movies like Moving August, Cold Heart and Mi Amigo. He became popular after acting in the sci-fi movie Sabretooth. Holloway has made his fame and wealth from his marvelous acting in both television and films. One TV show which drove his entire career to success was “Lost”. He played the character of James Sawyer Ford. He also played the role of Gambit in the initial X-Men series. However producers removed this character later on as Holloway was finding it difficult to devote time to other commitments other than ‘Lost’.

In 1993 Josh featured in a music video titled “Cryin”, and in 2007, he was there in the video game, “Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars”. He has been advertising for different brands as well since 2007.
