Ed Burns is an American actor, film producer, writer and director who has an estimated net worth of $18 million. He is best known for appearing in several films like Saving Private Ryan (1998) and One Missed Call (2008). He made his directorial debut in the movie The Brothers McMullen (1995). He also directed She’s The One (1996) and Sidewalks of New York (2001).

Born Edward Fitzgerald Burns on January 29, 1968 in Woodside, Queens, New York, he was raised in Valley Stream, New York, in Long Island. He briefly attended Chaminade High School before he transferred to Hewlett High School. He then went to SUNY Oneonta and University at Albany before he earned a degree in Film from Hunter College in 1992.

Burns began her professional career as a production assistant on Oliver Stone’s The Doors. He then went to work as a gofer for the TV program Entertainment Tonight. While working for ET, he also wrote, directed and produced the independent feature film The Brothers McMullen where he also played one of the lead roles. It was a big hit and that was the start that he has directed, produced and starred in various films including Saving Private Ryan, 15 Minutes, Life or Something Like It, Looking for Kitty, The Groomsmen, The Holiday, One Missed Call, 27 Dresses, and Alex Cross. He has also played some recurring roles on TV shows such as Entourage and Will & Grace.
