Born to Alfred and Ruby LaFontaine on August 26, 1940 in Minnesota, Don LaFontaine went on to become the “Voice of America”. He is among the most acclaimed voice actors of our times. His fame and wealth comes from his many projects where he lends his voice for television commercials, video game trailers and movies.

Don LaFontaine was famously nicknamed as the “Thunder Throat” and “The Voice of God”. He worked as a recording engineer. But Don LaFontaine was destined to achieve more in life. He started working at New York City’s National Recording Studio. It was here that Don got the opportunity to be associated with Floyd Peterson. He worked with him on radio spots for the Show “Dr. Strangelove”. Floyd Peterson was so impressed with Don’s work that he used his ideas for the spots. Later they both did business on producing advertisements after 1963 in the movie industry.

Life changed for Don LaFontaine while he was working on the Gunfghters of Casa Grande in 1964. MGM was looking for a good voice artist. The position was filled with Don Lafontaine. His career path took off from there. Eventually he went on to become one of the noted voice artists of America. Kaleidoscope Films Ltd was then headed by Don. He became the trailer producer of a major production house before opening his own company in 1976. He called it the “Don Lafontaine Associates”.

Don died at the age of 68 in the year 2008.
