Dev Anand is an Indian actor, director, and producer who had an estimated net worth of $50 million.

Anand began his professional career as an actor when he appeared in Hum Ek Hain in 1946.

Other films he appeared in include Vidya, Jeet, Shair, Afsar, Sanam, Ziddi, Baazi, Paying Guest, and other notable movies that makes Anand’s career successful.

He produced successful films, such as Kala Pani, Jewel Thief, Heera Panna, Prem Pujari, Censor, and Love at Prime Square. He also directed critically-acclaimed movies, including Swami Dada, Awwal Number, Sau Crore, Charge Sheet, and Main Solah Baras Ki.

In 1949, he launched his own film production company, Navketan Films, through which Anand produced 35 films.

He was recognized by several award-giving bodies, which doled out national and international honors to Anand. Among his awards are a Best Actor prize for Kala Pani in 1959, a National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi -Guide in 1965, a Mumbai Academy of Moving Images Award for his Outstanding Services to the Indian Film Industry in 1997, an Outstanding Contribution to Indian Cinema award that was given by former First Lady Hillary Clinton in 2000, and a Special Screen Award in 2001.

Dharam Dev Pishorimal Anand was born on September 26, 1923 in Punjab, Pakistan. He got a BA degree in English Literature from the Government College in Lahore, Pakistan. Anand was married to Kalpana Kartik in 1954 and has one child. In December 3, 2011 while having a vacation in London, he died from cardiac arrest in The Washington Mayfair Hotel.
