Robert Roode Jr. is a professional wrestler from Canada. He signed in WWE's developmental territory, NXT. In his first reign, he became the current NXT Champion.
He is famous for working at Total Nonstop Action Wrestling for 12 years from 2004 to 2016. He debuted as a part of Team Canada in 2004. Here, he became an NWA World Tag Team Champion with Eric Young. The team broke up, and after the singles run, he became successful in forming a tag team with James Storm. Their team, the Beer Money, Inc., is the six-time TNA World Tag Team Champion. Afterward, Roode defeated Storm and became the TNA World Heavyweight Champion. He became the longest reigning Heavyweight Champion in the history of the company for he held the title for 256 days. Roode's final reign included the TNA World Tag Team Championship with Austin Aries, a one-time TNA King of the Mountain Champion, and the TNA World Heavyweight Champion.
Roode was able to usher the Glorious Era of NXT. He was already famous when he joined NXT in July 2016. He promised to put the brand in new heights by becoming the poster boy of the Wall Street-endorsed NXT. He achieved that goal after defeating Shinsuke Nakamura at TakeOver San Antonio to win the NXT Championship. He now has a net worth of $1.5 million.
