Jo-Wilfried Tsonga began pursuing his career when he was a kid. He played tennis and competed in the US Open Juniors and won the title in 2003. When he turned pro in 2004, he qualified to play during the China Open.

In 2008, Tsonga won the ATP Masters Series championship at the Paris Masters and qualified during the Tennis Masters Cup that was held in Shanghai, China.
