Portuguese professional football player Raul Meireles who plays the position of a midfielder has an estimated net worth of $30 million. Born Raul Jose Trindade Meireles on March 17, 1983 in Porto, Portugal, his father Raul Meireles Sr. who was a former massage therapist from Boavista FC, encouraged him to play football for the team at the age of six. He started his career in the club as a trainee. However, he was loaned to Desportivo das Aves in the Liga Honra where he made his professional debut. He returned to Boavista after two years where he made his Primeira Liga debut.

Because of his great performance, Meireles was brought to the Portuguese powerhouse FC Porto. While in the club, they won three Primeira Liga titles in a row, two Portuguese Cups and three Portuguese Supercups.

In 2010, Raul Meireles moved to Liverpool where he won the 2011 PFA Fans’ Player of the Year award after a very successful first season in the English Premier League. A year after, in August 2011, he moved to Chelsea and joined his former manager Andre Villas-Boas with whom he had spent a short period of time. He won the 2012 UEFA Champions League and 2011-12 FA Cup in his debut with the club. These two are his first titles after his arrival in England.

Meireles is a member of the Portugal national team. His career began in the Under-16 side and played at the 2000 UEFA European Under-16 Football Championship in Israel. He was called up to the senior team for the first time in November 2006. He represented the country in the UEFA Euro 2008, 2010 FIFA World Cup and UEFA Euro 2012.

Raul Meireles is married to Ivone whom he met at during his youth at Boavista. During the wedding ceremony, his guests include former teammates Lisandro Lopez, Nuno Espirito Santo, Jose Bosingwa, Lucho Gonzalez, Mariano Gonzalez, Pepe, Pedro Emanuel and Bruno Alves. The christening of their daughter Lara was done at the same time.
