Roger Staubach is an American former professional football player and real-estate businessman who has an estimated net worth of $600 million. He is known for being a quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys team in the National Football League (NFL) of the United States.

Roger Thomas Staubach was born on February 5, 1942 in Cincinnati, Ohio. His parents were Elizabeth and Robert Staubach and he was an only child. Staubach studied at catholic Purcell High School in Cincinnati, and he graduated in 1960. Next year, Staubach was admitted to the Naval Academy of the United States, and he joined the Navy football team. Staubach performed well throughout his college career. In his second season, he led his team to the national finals, where they lost against the University of Texas. During his three seasons at the Navy team, he received widespread praise and recognition, winning several awards. Finally, Staubach graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering. He was placed into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1981, and in 2007 was ranked number nine by ESPN on their “Top 25 Players in College Football History" list.

The Dallas Cowboys chose Staubach in the 1964 NFL Draft, but he didn’t play professional football until 1969, when he completed his four-year military service, so his debut was as a 27-year-old rookie, with a salary of $25,000 a year. After a while, Staubach assumed the quarterback position as starting player. He led the Cowboys to ten consecutive victories, including the team's first Super Bowl winning in 1972. Following the successful season, Staubach negotiated a three-year deal estimated at $75,000 per year, and he remained as starting quarterback for the rest of his career. In 1977, the Cowboys won their second Super Bowl. Finally, after eleven seasons, Staubach retired in 1980. At that time, he was making around $160,000 a year.

Staubach is married to Marianne Staubach since 1965 and they have five children, Michelle Elizabeth, Jeffrey Roger, Stephanie Marie, Jennifer Anne, and Amy Lynn.

During his first seven years as a player, Staubach also worked as a real estate broker, and in 1977 started his own real estate business, The Staubach Company, with his partner Robert Holloway Jr. Once retired he focused exclusively on this venture, and bought out his partner in 1982. The Staubach Company specialized in representing tenants and worked with major corporations like AT&T, Blockbuster, Cisco, PepsiCo, and Time Warner. Besides, it had stakes in 27 apartment complexes in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metropolitan Area, located in Texas, among other projects. Staubach was the chairman and CEO of his company until he announced his resignation in 2007. In that year, The Staubach Company had 70 offices in North America, 1,600 employees, more than 3,000 clients, and completed 7,280 transactions for $28 billion. In 2008, the company was sold to Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL) for $613 million, including $123 million in cash, $100 million in stocks, and the rest of it in cash over five years. The agreement also stipulated a payment of up to $114 million more relying on performance targets. Eventually, the payout totaled $640 million. The sale didn’t include Staubach Retail Services and Cypress Equities, Staubach’s real estate enterprises. Staubach joined the JLL board as executive chairman for the Americas. At the time of the sale, he owned 12% of the company as he had given equity to employees as the business developed, so he received $77.9 million. Staubach deposited half of his earnings for the sale into a trust for his children.

Staubach Retail Services, which was renamed SRS Real Estate Partners, was founded in 1986 and offers brokerage, corporate, investment, and development real estate services. Cypress Equities was founded in 1995, has 130 employees, and develops, operates, and manages retail, residential and mixed-use properties, mostly in the United States. The company has been involved in over 200 real estate investments valued at more than $4 billion, including more than $1 billion of total invested equity. Cypress Equities owns 16 properties and had revenue of $65 million in 2018.

In 2020, Staubach in partnership with the Dallas Cowboys inaugurated a $62.5 million, 17-story luxury building in Frisco, Texas, near to the team's 91-acre headquarters and practice facility. The building was named Twelve Cowboys Way after Staubach's famous jersey number.

Staubach has also pursued other business, including becoming co-owner of Hall of Fame Racing, a NASCAR Cup Series team, the most important competition of that kind, which began racing in the 2006 season. Besides, he served on the board at American Airlines and on the board at Cinemark.

In 2018, Roger Staubach received the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation's highest civilian honor.
