Mike Pouncey's athletic career started when he played for Lakeland High School's football team. He helped the team in its third consecutive Florida 5A state championship, and two-time USA Today national championship.
In college, he played for the Florida Gators where he stayed with from 2007 to 2010. Pouncey became Associated Press honorable mention All-Southeastern Conference selection, and Pro Football Weekly first-team All-American.
During the NFL Draft in 2011, Pouncey was one of the top center and guard prospects and was eventually chosen by the Miami Dolphins as the first round, 15th pick overall.
